Synthetic turf, also known as artificial turf or artificial grass, in combination with a properly installed cushion layer, is a natural choice for playground surfacing that looks like natural grass while providing a safe and durable resilient surface underneath playground equipment, protecting children from accidental falls.
Synthetic turf can be installed over asphalt, concrete or a properly compacted aggregate base.
Synthetic turf can be installed with or without a cushion layer. However, in order for it to have a fall height rating, it needs to have a cushion layer with a proper depth of approximately 2” to 4”. The depth of the cushion layer is determined by the fall height rating desired. When installed properly, artificial turf can provide an ADA accessible surface that can perform well.
We are a one stop shop Synthetic Turf for Commercial Playground Equipment installation. This eliminates the need for our clients to contract with several entities to get their project completed, saving valuable time and money. We also offer free Synthetic Turf for Playground design and consultation.
While synthetic turf provides a very natural grass-like appearance, it does have joints which may require maintenance after a few years, when installed in high traffic areas. For that reason, PIP rubberized surfacing may be a better choice for customers that would like to avoid doing maintenance of any kind. PIP rubberized surfacing is seamless, a better choice for irregular sites or sites with curves and offers a longer life span.
