Pacific Play Systems has recently completed its latest playground project for the Thermal Apartments in Riverside County. The project includes two custom designed playgrounds and a large hip shade canopy. Working with a relatively small space, Pacific Play’s design team was able to come up with both a 2-5 and 5-12 age group system that accommodates all children while offering a wide range of exciting play activities. The new shade structure covers the entire large play area and not only keeps the playground equipment cool on warm days but also offers important UV protection for the children while playing. Incorporating a shade structure into the budget when planning any playground project is always a good idea, especially if the project happens to be located in a warm climate such as sunny southern California!
The medium sized 2-5 age group playground designed by Pacific Play for this project boasts a variety of activities for the younger set. The easy stairs that lead to the structure’s age appropriate 36” high platforms allow children an ideal way to access the system’s two fun-filled slides and other components. The double slide provides fun for two friends at the same time, while the quarter turn slide at the opposite end of the structure offers even more play action. Both the grip climber and bedrock climber provide an exciting way to reach the top of the platforms while providing challenge and strength building. Lastly, the Driver play panel and ABC panel provide both imaginative play and learning opportunities for the young participants!
On the other end of this Thermal playground equipment site you will find the 5-12 age group play structure that is even more challenging and geared to accommodate the older children. This system starts at a 36” high platform and goes all the way up to a 60” high platform where you will find a large double slide, once again for two friends to enjoy at the same time. The bedrock climber and track climber coming off the highest platform of the system, as well as the spiral climber, provide multiple opportunities for this age group to improve both balance and coordination. Lastly, this playground also offers one of the original and most popular play components for the 5-12 year olds, the horizontal ladder, also known as the monkey bars. This type of component is great for older children as it presents a challenging upper body workout and an excellent way to access the system’s lower deck.
