Pacific Play Systems Completes San Marcos Playground Equipment Installation Project at Connors Park
Located adjacent to San Marcos Elementary school at 320 West San Marcos Boulevard, Connors Park is now open to the public. The new park encompasses a multi-purpose athletic field, tennis courts, basketball courts, pickleball court, bathroom facilities, picnic areas and two state of the art playgrounds, furnished and installed by Carlsbad commercial playground equipment company, Pacific Play Systems. Both play areas, as well as the sport courts, are nicely lit, allowing residents to enjoy the park during the evening hours as well. Connors Park sits on 4.7 acres of luscious landscaping and is surrounded by residential communities as well as businesses, providing the city with a family-friendly environment for children and their families to enjoy.
The play areas at Connors Park were designed by Pacific Play Systems. The 2-5 play area consists of a Hybrid Revolution composite play structure with five different slides, a track climber, a deluxe grip climber, disc climbers, an S-shaped disc traverse, a bedrock climber, an inclined arch bridge and a marsh bridge. The Revolution components for this structure consist of a tri-step traverse, a tri-ring hub, an arched lumbar climber and an S-shaped crawl tube. This 2-5 layout offers two hex-shaped shade canopies over the structure providing children with much-needed shade during the hot summer days. There are also a number of spring riders as well as swings in this area, including an inclusive swing seat for ADA accessibility.
The 5-12 play area also includes a Hybrid Revolution composite play structure, consisting of three slides, a terrace climber, a stacked loop climber, a 360-degree horizontal ladder, chinning bars, an S-shaped traverse and two large hex canopies towering over the structure. The Revolution components for this structure include an arch loop traverse, a ring traverse, a climbing wall, several overhead traverses, a tri-step traverse, a tri-ring hub, a gyro capsule spinner and more. Free-standing components at this play area include a bucket spinner and a number of swings, including an ADA accessible swing. Engineered wood fiber surfacing is used in both play areas.
Connors Park has been named after Mary Young Connors who was a community leader and a former elementary school teacher in San Marcos. Aside from Connors Park, there are 16 other large parks as well as 18 mini parks within the City of San Marcos, reflecting the City’s commitment to providing its residents with state of the art park facilities.
